Vice-President, Construction

AFL was formed on November 28, 1984, by Alcoa Securities Corporation (ASC), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Aluminum Company of America (ALCOA), and Fujikura Ltd., a corporation organized and existing under the laws of Japan. AFL was created to manufacture fiber optic ground wire (entrance cables for sale to the public utility industry) at its Duncan, SC, facility. In 2005, Fujikura assumed 100% ownership of AFL and moved AFL's headquarters to Duncan, SC. Throughout Fujikura's history, telecommunications has been a core business making significant contributions to Fujikura’s growth.

 AFL provides industry-leading solutions, products and services to the energy, service provider, enterprise and industrial markets, as well as a number of emerging markets.

It is a truly pivotal time in AFL’s evolution, with a focus on growth and diversification. With that in mind, AFL is seeking a Vice President, Construction who will contribute to the business strategy and operations of the organization as a key member of the leadership team. Under the direction of the Senior Vice President, Infrastructure Services Group, the Vice President, Construction will execute the tactical local network plans and implementation of capital investments in Canada, supporting the Local Market Operations.

The role will provide day-to-day senior leadership and management to the construction department which is internally and externally aligned with AFL’s overall strategic vision, philosophy, mission, short-term/long-term goals and policies. The Vice President, Construction will have mandate for multiple teams of Construction, Cable and Splicing Operations and will communicate and enforce policies, procedures and operations determined by the Executive Leadership Team.

The ideal candidate is a successful senior construction leader who has been responsible for overseeing contracting operations in an entrepreneurial organization, coupled with direct experience in infrastructure project management. The Vice President, Construction will have proven expertise in telecom, energy or utilities construction projects. The Vice President, Construction will work closely with the senior leadership team to develop and implement business development strategies, with a customer-centric approach.
