Vice President, Project Delivery

Vancouver Airport Authority (VAA) is a community-based, not-for-profit organization that operates Vancouver International Airport (YVR). With a record 25.9 million passengers, 56 airlines, 125 non-stop destinations and 338,000 tonnes of cargo in 2018, YVR continues to grow rapidly. As a job generator, a community contributor, and a hub of innovation, YVR’s reputation as a safe and efficient airport requires a coordinated team effort, built on a strong foundation. VAA is made up of a team of diverse people who are working collaboratively to reach its goal of 29 million passengers by 2020, and it has recently embarked upon an ambitious 20-year expansion program consisting of up to 75 projects valued at $9.1 billion to help facilitate that growth. Reporting to the President & Chief Executive Officer, the Vice President, Project Delivery is responsible for the planning, development, and successful execution of all major capital projects at YVR, and is accountable for the fulfillment of all project deliverables within approved budget and timelines, including hiring; legal obligations; risk management; communications; stakeholder engagement; safety; and quality control. The Vice President, Project Delivery will establish clear and attainable project objectives for each capital project while ensuring the ongoing operation of the airport is not negatively affected. In addition to working with key stakeholders at VAA, the individual will be required to interface with a wide range of external stakeholder groups and be able to engage effectively across the organization to quickly develop trust in order to ensure the successful implementation and integration of all capital projects.

The ideal candidate will possess an impressive project management and construction management background, with the proven ability to work collaboratively, effectively, and positively with a diverse range of stakeholders. Ideally, candidates will have collaborated on a wide range of highly visible and uniquely challenging projects within an operations environment that cannot shut down.
